Grubbing for Good with #GiveAndGrub

The musical Avenue Q contains a hysterical song on giving back. During the song the puppets sing loudly that “when you’re helping others, you can’t help helping yourself.”

Yes, it’s good to give for the sense of giving. It’s my favorite way to give to a charity.

But sometimes, you give to get. To have a fantastic feeling. Because giving makes you happy. As they say in Avenue Q, “when you give to a worthy cause, you’ll feel as jolly as Santa Clause.”

Especially when that cause is Give And Grub: The Gourmet Food Truck with a Purpose.

What you get? Delicious food and the satisfying knowledge that, while your noshing away on your sandwich, a hungry child in Tampa gets a free meal!

Produced by the Laser Spine Institute in partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Give and Grub provides gourmet food for YOU while providing much needed nutrition and wellness to children of Tampa Bay. Give and Grub works with Feeding America Tampa Bay and Metropolitan Ministries, so you know that the food donations reach the kids in need.

According to Give and Grub, nearly 700,000 people in Tampa Bay go without the food they need, with 250,000 of them children. That’s a staggering and horrifying number. Don’t you think? And that’s not even taking into account the health or quality of the food they are eating!! This hunger needs to stop and, thanks to Give and Grub YOU can help be a part of the solution. Let’s #StickItToHunger y’all!

Every meal you buy from the Give and Grub food truck directly goes to provide a meal for a child or family in Tampa. Bonus? They also give one every time you use the #GiveAndGrub on Twitter!! Social media truly has power and, in this instance, the power to feed a needy child. So tweet up!

You can also EAT up. The food is super!!

You get warm fuzzies from helping a family in need, but there’s more! When you visit the Give and Grub truck you will enjoy tasty delights! While you’re helping others, you really ARE helping yourself–by filling your own bellies with delicious food truck fare.

With entrees ranging from salads to sandwiches to tacos, there’s something for the whole family–no matter what your appetite may be.

I personally fell in love with the Hedman’s Steak Tacos.

hedmans-steak-tacosFinally a taco I can actually eat with my fingers! Double layers of tortillas ensure that your taco is ready to devour–with juicy skirt steak, cabbage, salsa and more. Why don’t more people double-wrap the taco? It’s a hand-held food and boy does it make a difference when you get to sink your teeth into a bite of meat, tortilla, and topping goodness. Highly recommended!

I also fell for the Callahan’s Mac & Cheese (yes, the food all has Tampa Bay Lightning connections!) Super gooey boursin cheese around corkscrew cavatappi pasta. Topped with kielbasa sausage, peppers, and onions! YUM!!

Everything looked delish!

Plus, with the truck stationed outside of the Tampa Bay Lightning home games you are guaranteed a healthy meal that looks (and tastes) great–before you even enter the stadium! The Give and Grub truck also makes special appearances. Find out what events the truck will be at by visiting their website. Be sure to also connect socially on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter! And don’t forget to use #GiveAndGrub to help a hungry family get a meal!

Thanks for having us Give and Grub! You can tell we had a great experience!

It wasn’t an event so much as an opportunity for me to give away a free lunch Denise. A fellow #TBB actually won, Kim Kindle. We had a great time and I will be reporting on it next week in a blog :)
