Welcome to #FridaySharefest 4/1/16!
Each week for our #FridaySharefest, we spotlight bloggers in our community to showcase some of the faces in our community of bloggers. This week our host is Scotty!
Hey-o! Scotty here. I was told one time that I was an ‘issues blogger‘. I disagreed and said that I was a dad blogger. Turns out…they were right. I am currently running two sites right now. One is trying to get more changing stations in men’s rooms. DadsWhoChangeDiapers. There, you’ll find toy reviews and parenting pieces about being a SAHD with a WAHM and two energetic little boys. Sometimes funny. Sometimes sad. Always me.
The other is a newer venture. Four dads have decided to raise awareness for family homelessness across the US. 4D2SD.org is all about their treks across the US by logging enough miles at home to make it to San Diego in February of next year. Along the way we will be posting mileage updates as well as interviews with Family Promise affiliates. As well as some mileage challenges along the way.
One thing I love about being here is that the Tampa Bay Area has some solid bloggers. On any given week you could fall in love with the area all over again. Here are a few of my favorites from the last week:
As I’ve been out riding my bike for #4D2SD, I’ve been REALLY focused on safety. So, when Nanci from This Crazy Life of Mine posted her Runner Safety 101 article. I had to read it. If you’re a runner or a cyclist, these tips will work for you. And given Tampa’s track record…better safe than sorry.
As a writer, I’m always looking for inspiration from my muse. Some days she shows up with a ton of stuff for me. Other days, I have to cajole her out of her cubbyhole with promises of coffee and cupcakes. And sometimes, I’m just left with a vaguely muse-shaped dust cloud with a cartoon ricochet sound as she rockets off to the unknown. Those days are the worst.
Amanda with Meet @ the Barre doles out some tips for Finding Ways How to Get Re-Inspired. I have used most of these tips at one time or another during my life writing. The one I’ve discovered recently was about exercise. As I’ve been churning out the miles, turns out my muse is happier now! Who knew??
Someone once told me “If the entire world put all of their problems into a hat, you’d be happy to draw yours back out.” The takeaway is that you should be happy to have the life and struggles you have because there are those who are suffering more than you are. Also, it turns out that we are all suffering from something at sometime. See those people who look amazing and you think have all their ducks in a row? They might be fighting a fight you’ve never even heard of before.
Christina at The Blissful Balance laid it out there with her post about What It’s Like to Struggle With Orthorexia. I battled with anorexia in high school and to this day I struggle with body image issues. Turns out…body image issues are everywhere. And they take many forms. I applaud her courage in talking about something that most people don’t want to share.
Now we want to hear from you! Welcome to #FridaySharefest 4/1/2016!
