Welcome to #FridaySharefest 9/8/17!
Each week for our #FridaySharefest, we spotlight bloggers in our community to showcase some of the faces in our community of bloggers. This week our host is Marsha!
Hi bloggers! This certainly has been an interesting week with everyone getting ready for Hurricane Irma and trying to find water and gas! Since I went through Hurricane Andrew, I sincerely send well wishes to each of you for the safety of you and your families.
My blog is called Plate Girl (yes, I know, I’m a grown-ass woman!) I’ve been blogging eight years about tablescapes (think Martha Stewart, but without the cooking) but recently rebranded it after (a) stupidly not renewing my domain name and losing 8 years of posts and b) getting motivated after attending the Sunday Supper Food and Wine event. I adore dishes and simply love collecting them – especially vintage dishes, crystal, silver platters, decanters… In addition to showing tablescapes you can make for holidays and get-togethers, and how to decorate for parties, wedding and bridal showers, I also write about restaurants, hotels, decor and the beauty of Florida. I’m a native Floridian, raised in Miami and have lived in Clearwater for 20 years. I have two grown daughters (one still lives w me, one just moved out), two adorable dogs, two fiesty cats, and two fancy mice. (My daughter’s. Don’t ask.)
Here are a few of my favorites from the last week:
The first blogger is Tia from Pennies in My Pocket. Tia had the opportunity to visit one of my favorite places: Marchand’s at the Rennaissance Vinoy in St. Petersburg for a Bourbon and Bluegrass tasting event. Lucky girl!
I’m not sure I would normally go to a Bluegrass event, but hello – it’s the Vinoy! And the dishes look amazing. In Bourbon and BlueGrass: A Southern Tasting at Marchand’s , Tia shares many of the wonderful dishes she got to try, including Honey Glazed Pork Belly and Hummingbird Cake. As usual, she included her fantastic photos of each dish. The three-course meal is only $38, which is kind of a steal for Marchand’s.
Boiled peanuts shelled with ham hocks and served with Wonder Bread.
Next is Jessica at Tampa Mom Runs with her post about Shopkins Live coming to Lakeland October 10.
Jessica received a four pack of admission tickets and is giving away another four to one lucky reader to the “Funtastic Food and Fashion Fair”.
I’ve seen and heard about Shopkins all over the place and have briefly looked at them in Target, but I have to admit I don’t know all their names or stories. What I do know is that when my younger daughter was little she loved Littlest Pet Shop and had probably more than 100 of the adorable creatures. If she had had the chance to see them in person she would have been so excited!
It sounds like a fun afternoon of music and fun! Check out Jessica’s blog and catch the excitement!
Our third blogger is Denise at RunDMT as she shares her love for MegaCon in MegaCon Comes to Tampa Bay.
If you know Denise, you can probably imagine her and her family decked out for this conference! She and her family first got “hooked” in 2015 and now they will attend MegaCon between Sept. 28 and Oct. 1 at the Tampa Convention Center. In addition to some great tips, advice and photos, she also has a Giveaway to win Two Deluxe Passes to Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I’m looking forward to see her upcoming blog post about her experience!
Also this week we heard from Lilly at Sippin’ and Shoppin’ in her Welcome to Sippin’ and Shoppin’ post. Lilly is an art student and also works in retail as a Visual Merchandiser. She just rebranded her past blog called Marchande de Mode, which was mostly about fashion, to expand to more of style, lifestyle, beauty, shopping – and more of girls just chatting over a drink talking about life.
Good luck Lilly on your new blog!
