I received an invitation to taste the Earl of Sandwich in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
We go together like bread and butter.
Peanut butter and jelly.
Ham and cheese.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup.
It’s no coincidence that the most delicious BFF pairings are related to everyone’s favorite sandwiches. Sandwiches are more than convenient comfort food cuddled between two slices of bread caressed in your hands. It’s a lifestyle.
In fact, that very foodie lifestyle was first introduced by THE Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu back in 1762. Legend has it, the Earl was playing cards and did not want to leave the table to eat. He asked for a serving of roast beef to be placed between two slices of bread so he could eat with his hands. And the sandwich was born.
For more than 250 years later, the comfort food tradition has continued and flourished by the Earl of Sandwich franchises and now those delicious hand-crafted made-to-order, freshly baked sandwiches have rolled into the Tampa scene.
Top it all off, the newest Tampa location is sandwiched between some of the best points of interest in Downtown Tampa such as the Straz Center for Performing Arts, Tampa Museum of Art, the Tampa Theatre and the Glazer Children’s Museum to name a few.
There is no disputing that sandwiches are comfort food, however, the ultimate comfort food hands-downs has to be the Earl of Sandwich’s Holiday Turkey which delivers all the joyful tastes of holidays, but particularly Thanksgiving. Imagine your whole Thanksgiving dinner between bread – the turkey, relish and stuffing. It’s like the Thanksgiving leftovers never left you.
For the non-sandwich types (WHAAT?! *GASP!*), you’d be surprised to learn that the Earl of Sandwich is more than just sandwiches. Offerings and other menu selections include soups, pizza and mac ‘n cheese, If you’re looking for lighter fare, Earl of Sandwich even offers wraps and an assortment of healthy salads.
However, if you’re looking to indulge, be sure leave room for the brownies and cookies.
If you’re a carb lover, you’ll take comfort in knowing that all the breads, cookies and brownies are made in house and fresh every day.
Even if you’ve given up carbs, there is still plenty to enjoy at Tampa’s Earl of Sandwich.
