Fitness & Summer Fun: Color Me Rad Review

Summer is amongst us! I cannot believe that it is already almost June… and the kids are out of school!

Although I do not have any kids of my now, I’m pretty much a big kid myself. I do miss summer vacation and… not having any bills to pay (I mean, right??). My mom & dad were creative to occupy my summers in the hot, Florida sun; my favorites were pool time, visits to the library, and camp!

Thanks to Pinterest, I did a quick search for inexpensive, summer fun that you can do with your kids this summer! (Am I the only one to use Pinterest for everything?!)

Let the summer fun begin!

Beach & Pool Days…and Nights! As Florida residents, we are so lucky to be close to the Gulf to enjoy the salt water — and so many of us have the awesome luxury of having a pool right in our backyard! One cool idea that I came across for a fun night of swimming… adding glow sticks to the pool! Target always has glow sticks in their $1 section; I would suggest getting the larger ones to keep your pool safe.

Fun Runs — Like Color Me Rad This super, fun race hit up Tampa last month and was such a blast. Quite a few of us were able to have a blast to start off the weekend… We all know the drill, show up in white…

ray beforeAnd then run through the colorful fun! Purple, yellow, pink and blue! This year, they even added some slime! My friend Ray, was generous to share his pics of the day… you can tell the fun that was had… and the addition of the slimy colorfulness!*

ray afterRay even compiled a video of the colorful, slimy miles! Enjoy!

Have younger peeps? Try squirt-gun Painting! Actually very simple… with an easel, set up the canvas.  Fill a couple of squirt guns with water color paint — and let them take to the canvas! I would suggest picking up squirt guns at the dollar store, this way you do not have to rinse them out each time the little peeps want a color change!

Do you have any fun plans for your kids’ summer? Any other cheap, fun ways to keep them busy?

*as part of the Tampa Bay Bloggers, and thanks to the relationship with Color Me Rad, I was able to participate in the ahhmazing fun run in exchange for blog shares and social media love. All opinions are my own.

I have not done this colorful 5k, but I have done another and we all had a great time. If you go for speed it defeats the purpose, you’ll hardly get color on you. It’s more fun to stroll through with friends being silly. There was lots of twirling and some “snow” angels on our trip. I never thought of glow stick in a swimming pool. Great idea! I wonder if they sink and we can dive for them???
